So This is Love.
We love because He first loved us.
1 J O H N 4 : 1 9
God's love transforms our hearts, enabling us to love others. Through Jesus, we are reminded to love. Marriage is more than a promise; it is a covenant with God. We recognize we cannot love perfectly on our own, but through His grace we are able to love and serve one another selflessly as Christ did for the church. We pray our relationship reflects the Gospel and is a testament of God's love.
Long Story Short
Quick lore before we get into it.. Darnell, grew up in Toronto as the youngest of three brothers in a family of five while, Emily was raised just south of the border in New York, alongside her sister and loving parents. Both were shaped with strong Christian values, a love for people, and a shared appreciation for Five Guys.
Fast forward to May 2023 where the magic of modern romance worked its wonders. They swiped right on each other (yes, green flags do exist on Dil Mil) and started chatting. After their first FaceTime, Darnell was smitten and was convinced that Emily was the one. Emily? Let’s just say she kept Darnell on his toes, but she couldn’t deny that there was something about him that she was falling in love with.
It didn't take long for Darnell to book a flight to New York to meet Emily in person. Their connection was instant, and after a few dinners filled with laughter and heartfelt conversations, their bond grew deeper. It was clear to them and their families that this connection wasn’t just the app’s doing—it was God’s matchmaking at its finest.
Later that year in November, Darnell got down on one knee in Central Park and asked Emily to marry him. Without hesitation and the biggest smile, Emily said yes! Surrounded by loved ones, they celebrated their engagement and now look forward to May 24, 2025—the day they say “I do.”
Despite the wait and the miles between them, and as beautiful as their story already is; Emily and Darnell know marriage is a gift from God and the best is yet to come!
